7 Signs You Are Abandoning Yourself in a Relationship, and How to Stop
Self-abandonment rarely begins with betrayal. It begins with one tiny “yes” when your entire body was screaming “no.”
The most dangerous person you can abandon for love is yourself.

Self-abandonment does not always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like being understanding.
Being patient.
Giving them one more chance.
Keeping quiet to avoid conflict.
Accepting inconsistency because you love them.
Pretending something did not hurt.
Convincing yourself you are asking for too much.
Telling yourself they are just going through something.
Lowering the standard because you are afraid of losing the connection.
And this is where many intelligent, loving, spiritually aware women get trapped.
Because from the outside, it looks like compassion.
But inside, your body is saying:
“This does not feel right.”
Your intuition knows.
Your nervous system knows.
Your body knows.
But somewhere between wanting the relationship and fearing its loss, you begin negotiating against yourself.
That is self-abandonment.
And this is one of the deepest things I help women transform inside The Love Mastery™.
I do not teach women how to become colder.
I teach them how to become more devoted to themselves.
Because love should never require you to disappear.
What Is Self-Abandonment in a Relationship?
Self-abandonment happens when you repeatedly disconnect from your own needs, truth, boundaries, emotions, values or intuition in order to keep another person.
It can happen in romantic relationships.
Friendships.
Family dynamics.
Business partnerships.
Even your relationship with money.
But romantic love exposes it quickly because intimacy touches the places where fear, desire, attachment and identity collide.
You may know exactly what you want when you are single.
Then someone enters your life and suddenly your standards become negotiable.
That is the pattern.
Not because you are weak.
Because part of you is trying to protect connection.
And if you have spent years being the strong woman, the responsible woman, the fixer, the achiever, the one who handles everything, you may not realize how easily those same traits become overgiving in love.
This is why I teach love as leadership.
The relationship you have with yourself determines the quality of love you are willing to tolerate, create and receive.
Sign 1: You Say Yes When You Mean No
This is one of the clearest signs of self-abandonment.
You do not want to go.
But you go.
You are not ready.
But you agree.
You do not like the behavior.
But you accept it.
You need space.
But you keep answering.
You feel uncomfortable.
But you smile anyway.
Why?
Because part of you believes saying no may create distance.
And distance feels more dangerous than dishonoring yourself.
That is where people-pleasing begins.
You are not saying yes because you truly want to.
You are saying yes because you are afraid of what will happen if you say no.
That fear can sound like:
“What if they think I am difficult?”
“What if they leave?”
“What if they stop loving me?”
“What if I am being too much?”
Let me tell you something.
A no that protects your peace is not rejection.
It is self-respect.
A woman who cannot say no is not free.
And love without freedom is not love mastery.
Sign 2: You Explain Away Behavior That Consistently Hurts You
This is a dangerous one because smart women are very good at making sense of things.
You understand psychology.
You understand trauma.
You understand stress.
You understand childhood wounds.
You understand business pressure.
You understand why someone behaves the way they do.
But understanding someone does not require you to tolerate behavior that repeatedly hurts you.
You can understand someone and still say:
“This is not acceptable for me.”
You can have compassion and still leave.
You can know why someone is emotionally unavailable and still refuse to build your life around their unavailability.
You can understand their pain without volunteering to become collateral damage.
Your intelligence should not become a weapon you use against your own instincts.
This is where discernment matters.
Love does not ask you to become blind.
Sign 3: You Need Their Validation Before Trusting Your Own Perception
You felt something was off.
But instead of trusting yourself, you asked them.
They told you everything was fine.
So you doubted yourself.
They told you that you were overthinking.
So you questioned your intuition.
They told you that you were too sensitive.
So you began editing your emotions.
This is how women slowly lose trust in themselves.
Not all at once.
Piece by piece.
Moment by moment.
You start outsourcing your reality.
And once that happens, you become easier to manipulate.
This is where my intuitive and spiritual work becomes extremely important.
Your gifts are not meant to make you more dependent on other people for answers.
They are meant to deepen your relationship with your own knowing.
Claircognizance.
Clairsentience.
Clairempathy.
Intuitive vision.
Embodied knowing.
These gifts are powerful only when grounded in self-trust.
Your intuition does not need to scream for you to listen.
Sometimes it whispers.
The question is:
Do you trust yourself enough to hear it?
Sign 4: You Make Their Needs More Important Than Yours
You know what they need.
You know what they like.
You know when they need space.
You know their schedule.
You know their stress.
You know their moods.
But what do you need?
That question stops many women cold.
Because somewhere along the way, your needs became secondary.
You became the giver.
The supporter.
The strong one.
The understanding one.
And you may even take pride in it.
But there is a difference between generosity and erasing yourself.
If every relationship requires you to overfunction, overgive and overextend, you are not in partnership.
You are carrying it.
And when one person carries the relationship, love starts to feel like labor.
This is one of the core areas I help women shift inside The Love Mastery™:
From overgiving to reciprocity.
From hyper-independence to healthy receiving.
From emotional labor to mutual responsibility.
From earning love to allowing love.
Sign 5: You Are Afraid Boundaries Will Make Someone Leave
This is one of the biggest reasons women tolerate too much.
You think:
“If I say what I really need, they may leave.”
“If I hold this boundary, they may get upset.”
“If I stop giving so much, they may pull away.”
And here is the part nobody wants to say.
They might.
But if your boundary makes someone leave, the boundary did not destroy a healthy relationship.
It exposed an unhealthy dynamic.
There is a difference.
A woman with standards is not difficult.
A woman with boundaries is not mean.
A woman who protects her peace is not selfish.
You are allowed to say:
“That does not work for me.”
“I need consistency.”
“I am not available for that.”
“I need time to think.”
“No.”
Those are complete statements.
The woman who is afraid of losing everyone will keep losing herself.
And eventually, that loss becomes unbearable.
Sign 6: You Obsess About Being Chosen Instead of Deciding Whether You Choose Them
This is where a powerful woman can suddenly become powerless.
You want to know:
Do they like me?
Will they text?
Will they commit?
Will they choose me?
Do they miss me?
Do they see a future with me?
But you forgot to ask:
Do I choose them?
Not their potential.
Not their words.
Not their chemistry.
Not the fantasy.
Them.
Who are they right now?
Are they consistent?
Are they emotionally available?
Are they honest?
Are they accountable?
Do they communicate?
Do you feel safe being yourself?
Do their actions match the life you say you want?
This is a Love Mastery shift.
Stop putting yourself on trial.
You are not auditioning.
You are evaluating.
You are discerning.
You are choosing too.
Sign 7: You Keep Falling in Love With Potential Instead of Reality
This one is especially common among intuitive, visionary, highly empathic women.
You can see who someone could become.
You can see their gifts.
Their softness.
Their brilliance.
Their wounds.
Their potential.
And because you can see it, you begin relating to the future version instead of the person standing in front of you.
That is dangerous.
Because potential is not a relationship.
Potential does not create consistency.
Potential does not communicate.
Potential does not show up.
Potential does not keep promises.
Reality does.
This is where vision needs boundaries.
You are allowed to see the best in someone.
But you also have to honor what they are actually showing you.
Love the truth.
Not the version you are trying to manifest into existence.
Your Body Is Often Speaking Before Your Mind
One of the biggest mistakes women make is believing intuition always arrives as some huge spiritual message.
It does not.
Sometimes it is a tightening in your stomach.
A heavy chest.
A headache after every interaction.
A sense of dread before seeing someone.
A feeling that you cannot relax.
An internal no.
A sudden drop in energy.
Your body is part of your guidance system.
As an emotional and intuitive woman, I teach this differently.
You do not need to become obsessed with another person's energy.
You need to become intimate with your own.
That is where your power is.
Your spiritual gifts should deepen your discernment.
Not your obsession.
You do not need to decode every text.
Every silence.
Every synchronicity.
Every emotional shift.
You need to learn how to ask:
“What is this showing me about me?”
That is mastery.
The Judgment Women Secretly Carry
The deepest shame around self-abandonment often sounds like:
“I should know better.”
I am successful.
I am smart.
I am intuitive.
I have done the work.
Why did I stay?
Why did I ignore myself?
Why did I give another chance?
Why did I let that happen?
Because knowing and embodying are different things.
You can know boundaries intellectually and still struggle to hold one.
You can understand attachment and still panic when someone pulls away.
You can teach self-love and still face another layer of self-abandonment.
Growth does not mean you never get activated.
It means you come home to yourself faster.
That is the work.
“But I Am Naturally Loving and Giving”
Beautiful.
Stay loving.
Stay generous.
Stay soft.
Stay compassionate.
Do not turn your heart into stone because someone mishandled it.
But stop using love as permission to betray yourself.
Generosity without boundaries becomes depletion.
Compassion without discernment becomes self-destruction.
Love without reciprocity becomes exhaustion.
You can be loving and still say no.
You can be soft and still have standards.
You can be generous and still expect mutual effort.
You can forgive and still decide not to return.
That is embodied love.
What Happens When a Woman Stops Abandoning Herself?
She becomes harder to manipulate.
Not because she becomes suspicious.
Because she trusts herself.
She no longer needs someone else to confirm what she sees.
She no longer bargains with red flags.
She no longer confuses inconsistency with mystery.
She no longer makes someone's rejection mean she is unworthy.
She stops explaining basic respect.
She stops begging for communication.
She stops trying to earn love.
She stops mothering adults.
She stops staying where her nervous system never feels safe.
She stops making herself smaller so the relationship can survive.
And something powerful happens.
She becomes available for healthier love.
Because the standard changes.
Not only outside of her.
Inside of her.
This Is The Love Mastery™
My work has never been about teaching women how to chase harder.
It is about helping women master themselves.
In love.
In leadership.
In wealth.
I help women work through emotional patterns, identity, self-trust, boundaries, receiving, intuition, embodiment and the places where they unconsciously give their power away.
My work is deeply rooted in transformation.
I am a catalyst.
I see patterns.
I feel what is underneath the words.
I help women confront the truth they may already know but have been afraid to act on.
That is where love becomes leadership.
Because when you learn to lead yourself, you stop asking other people to decide your worth.
You decide how you are available to be loved.
The Woman You Are Becoming Does Not Beg to Be Chosen
She chooses.
She observes.
She feels.
She discerns.
She speaks.
She receives.
She walks away when something requires self-betrayal.
And she stays soft anyway.
That is power.
Not controlling another person.
Not predicting the relationship.
Not trying to manipulate the outcome.
Power is knowing you can love deeply and still remain fully connected to yourself.
That woman does not disappear inside love.
She expands inside it.
